Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves

Sisters Are Doing It For Themselves

A collaboration between Dry Water Arts and Grand Gestures Dance Collective (a now independent collective that grew out of the Equal Arts Creativity Matters project). Members of GGDC headed to Liverpool on 25th September to perform a piece choreographed by dance artist Paula Turner as part of  the Vital Festival.

A celebration of dance by older people. Performers Lillian, Norma, Linda and Cynthia rehearsed for several weeks with Paula experimenting and refining the piece which is beautiful, witty and sensual.

Linda from the dance collective said "We have loved being in the piece, it is art for arts sake and a fabulously expressive opportunity for us all"

The performance was filmed by Frances Anderson from Dry Water and will be available online shortly. The piece was funded by Dry Water Arts and transport was generously sponsored by Infinite Playgrounds. Many thanks to Rachel Rogers and MDI for their support and for this great opportunity to celebrate dance.
