Lights, lanterns and learning

As the winter solstice draws near Dry Water are busy playing with light and lanterns at Whitburn Primary School.

Using our philosophy of doing a lot with a little we are using basic materials to make unique, beautifully patterned lanterns. Paper, string and card cleverly combine so that children, parents and members of the community can shine out together whilst expressing individuality in their designs.

Lots of  "Oooooos" and "arghhhhhhs" as we dimmed the lights today and the children sang Away in a manger. Simply beautiful to watch children and adults share ideas, discuss designs and appreciate each others work.

Really looking forward to the lantern parade next week and the whole community gathering for lantern magic and carols.
