Morag Brown and Lewis Powell - Reid Saturday 29th November
29th November 7-9pm (Doors 6.30pm)
We are thrilled to be welcoming back Morag and Lewis to Dry Water. They sold out last time so be sure to book your tickets early!
We will also have Syrian Street food in the interval and a bar!
Morag and Lewis play a rich repertoire of compositions and arrangements of traditional music from Scotland, Europe and beyond. Lewis performs with accordion, guitar and cittern and Morag plays fiddle and five-string fiddle. Their shared intuition and love of spontaneity allows them to freely move between melody, harmony and improvisation. In addition to their work on the Scottish music scene, both musicians have performed extensively with bands playing music from the Balkans and Greece, and have pursued these musical interests in depth over the years. In one moment their music might be heard to draw deeply on their Scottish and Celtic heritage, the next to slip into a sound which is altogether eclectic. Together, they speak their music with one voice. The pair’s debut album Auld Springs New was launched in 2024 to great acclaim, and has featured as Celtic Music Radio’s Album of the Week, on BBC Radio Scotland and in The Guardian.

- Esther Swift (harpist, composer)
“I don't know how on earth I missed the release of this incredible album but I've thankfully
come across it today and it's totally brilliant.”
- James Fagan (Irish bouzouki player, singer)
“If I’ve ever seen two people playing so well together, almost as if they shared a brain
which was responsible for two instruments, I can’t remember when. Beautiful tasteful and
creative interplay. Could’ve listened to their music all night, and the icing on the cake - no
bragging - no bull****, just honest, great music beautifully and lovingly presented. Everything
I need in a concert.”
- Frank Lee (melodeon player)
“We were transported to a place of musical joy.”
